Discount Setup by POS

This guide outlines how discounts should be configured in AIQ based on your POS or ecommerce platform. Each POS has different requirements for how discounts are created, synced, and redeemed.

Overview

Discount behavior in AIQ depends on how your POS or Ecommerce integration handles discounts. All setups fall into one of four methods:

  1. Create the discount in AIQ, mirror it in the POS, and paste the AIQ Discount ID into the POS discount.

  2. Create the discount in the POS, mirror it in AIQ, and paste the POS Discount ID into the AIQ discount's redemption method.

  3. Create the discount in AIQ only, using a static flat ($) or percentage (%) off redemption method — no POS discount required.

  4. Create the discount in both AIQ and the POS, but redemption is not handled directly in the POS.

Find your POS or Ecommerce platform in the sections below to understand which method applies to your setup.

Note: This list is not exhaustive and some POSs may not be mentioned.

Method 1: Create in AIQ → Mirror in POS → Paste AIQ Discount ID into POS

For these POS systems, you create the discount in AIQ first, then create a matching version in your POS and link them using the AIQ Discount ID.

Steps:

  1. Create your discount in AIQ.

  2. Create a mirror version of the same discount in your POS.

  3. Copy the AIQ Discount ID from your AIQ discount.

  4. Paste the AIQ Discount ID into the corresponding field in the POS discount.

Method 2: Create in POS → Mirror in AIQ → Paste POS Discount ID into AIQ

For these POS systems, you create the discount in your POS first, then create a matching version in AIQ and link them using the POS Discount ID.

Steps:

  1. Create your discount in the POS.

  2. Copy the POS Discount ID.

  3. Create a mirror version of the discount in AIQ.

  4. In the AIQ discount, go to Redemption Methods and select Trigger Partner Reward > POS Discount ID.

  5. Paste the POS Discount ID into the POS Discount ID field. AIQ will trigger the reward during redemption.

Supported POS:

Method 3: Create in AIQ Only (Static Rewards — No POS Discount Required)

For these platforms, discounts are created and managed entirely within AIQ. No POS discount needs to be created or linked. Only static reward types are supported.

Supported redemption methods:

  • Apply Static Reward — Flat $ off

  • Apply Static Reward — Percentage (%) off

Not supported:

  • Cart-level discounts (e.g., spend X get Y)

  • Partner Platform Reward / POS Discount ID redemption

Supported platforms:

Method 4: Create in AIQ and POS (No In-POS Redemption)

For these systems, you create the discount in both AIQ and your POS, but the discount is not redeemed directly within the POS. Redemption is handled through AIQ.

Key Considerations

  • Method matters: Each POS uses a different discount setup flow — follow your platform's method exactly to ensure discounts apply correctly at checkout.

  • Discount IDs must match: For Methods 1 and 2, the discount ID must be copied and pasted correctly — a mismatch will prevent the discount from triggering.

  • Static rewards only (Method 3): Some platforms do not support POS-linked discounts. Use flat $ or % off redemption methods for these integrations.

  • Cart-level discounts are not universally supported: Check your platform's section to confirm which discount types are available.
