Prerequisites
Before redeeming discounts, ensure you have:
Required Permissions
Discount redemptions can be accessed by users with:
Staff
Manager
Analyst
Marketing
Marketing + Analyst
Operator
Owner
No POS Redemption Flows
There are two primary methods for redeeming discounts without an integrated POS connection.
Both methods:
Deduct points from the customer’s Persona in AIQ
Log the redemption in AIQ
Require staff to apply the discount within the POS manually
1. Redeeming Discounts Through the Customer Wallet
If the customer has an available discount, they can redeem it directly from their Wallet.
⚠️ This does not automatically apply the discount in your POS or Ecommerce system.
If enabled in Loyalty Settings, staff can also redeem discounts on behalf of customers.
Step 1: Access the Customer Wallet
The customer opens their AIQ Wallet at checkout
Available discounts and tiers are displayed
(If enabled) Staff may also access the customer’s wallet
Step 2: Select the Desired Discount
The customer or staff selects the promotion to redeem
Step 3: Redeem the Discount
Customer clicks Redeem
Points are deducted from the customer’s wallet
The discount is marked as redeemed in AIQ
Step 4: Apply the Discount in POS
The staff member asks the customer to show the redeemed discount or redeems the discount through the customer's wallet.
Customers should present the redemption confirmation (code or digital display) to the staff member to continue.
The staff member enters the discount information or scans the code into the POS system to apply the discount to the transaction.
The discount is now applied within the POS system.
Step 5: Complete the Transaction
The transaction is finalized with the discount applied
AIQ logs the redemption under the customer’s Persona
2. Redeeming Discounts Through the Staff View
Staff can redeem discounts directly from the customer’s Persona profile in AIQ.
(Refer to Staff Redemption documentation for detailed steps.)
This method also:
Deducts points immediately
Logs redemption in AIQ
3. Applying an AIQ Discount to a Transaction
If there is no POS/Ecommerce integration, AIQ cannot push the discount to the transaction automatically.
The discount must be applied manually in your POS.
Mirroring a Discount in POS
To simplify the process, create a mirrored discount in your POS system that exactly matches the discount configured in AIQ.
This ensures:
Staff can easily recognize the promotion
Discounts match between AIQ and POS
Reporting stays consistent
During Checkout
Confirm discount was redeemed in AIQ
Apply the matching mirrored discount in POS
Complete transaction
Manually Applying a Discount
If you do not mirror discounts in your POS:
Confirm redemption in AIQ
Manually enter a discount in POS equal to the redeemed value
Complete the transaction
