What Are Quantity Thresholds?
Quantity Thresholds (also called inventory thresholds) let you automatically hide products from your menu once their stock falls below a set quantity. This helps prevent overselling when inventory levels get low.
How They Work
When stock drops below the threshold → the product is hidden from the menu (but is still enabled in AIQ Ecommerce).
When stock rises above the threshold → the product automatically reappears on the menu.
Why Use Them?
This feature is especially useful when integrating with a POS. AIQ Ecommerce syncs with POS systems every 10 minutes. While that's typically enough to stay in sync, small timing gaps can cause overselling. Thresholds add a safeguard to reduce that risk.
Set Quantity Threshold per Product
Navigate to Menu > Products > Product Details > Pricing tab
Enter a number in the 'Quantity Threshold' field
Save
ℹ️ Note: Typically a low number like 4 or 5 is sufficient, but you may need to experiment a bit to find the right number.
Set Quantity Threshold for Multiple Products
Navigate to Menu > Products and use our Bulk Update feature.
Set Default Quantity Threshold per Category
You can configure a default threshold per category. This default will automatically apply to all new products added to AIQ Ecommerce — the default will not apply to any existing inventory.
Navigate to Menu > Categories > select the category
On the Details screen, find the "Default Product Quantity Threshold" setting and input a number.
Save.
Which Products Have a Quantity Threshold Set?
To monitor which products are above or below the threshold, use the Quantity Threshold filter in the products dashboard in Menu > Products.
