1) Generate an AI Voice Memo (Recommended)
Type your message, add personalization macros, and let AIQ convert it to speech.
Customize:
Language
Accent
Gender
Preview: Click play (longer messages may take up to ~30 seconds to generate).
Technology:
Neural2 (WaveNet-based) produces lifelike speech with human-like nuance.
Without macros: one audio file can serve many recipients
With macros: AIQ generates personalized MP3s per recipient and delivers via CDN at scale
Testing & Billing:
Send a test to your phone
3 credits per minute (max 5 minutes)
A mandatory 7-second TCPA message is appended (repeat/opt-out)
Includes human/voicemail detection and caller ID customization
2) Record My Voice
Record directly in Campaign Builder:
Requires microphone access
Tap Record → Stop
Preview, clear, or save your recording
3) Upload a Pre-Recorded File
Upload an audio file:
Formats: MP3, WAV
Max length: 2 minutes
Max size: 5 MB
Optional Campaign Builder Items
Attach a Discount
You can attach a discount so it appears in the recipient’s wallet when the Voice Drop is delivered.
Example script:
“Hi Hannah, this is Nick from XYZ Brand. I added a 20% off discount to your loyalty wallet for being a VIP…”
(See Discounts documentation for setup.)
Sending Rules & Best Practices
Send window: 9am–9pm local device time
Recommended length: ~1 minute
Messages under 1 minute may be repeated to meet carrier requirements
Max recommended: 2 minutes
Macros: Available for AI-generated voice only (not for uploaded or browser-recorded files)
Troubleshooting
Issue: Message not delivered
Solution: Verify the number is active, opted-in, not on DNC, and network is available.
Issue: Brand name not showing on caller ID
Solution: Caller ID propagation is carrier-dependent and may take 1–3 months.
FAQ
What hours of the day can sending occur?
Voice Drops can be sent between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM local time for the recipient’s device.
If a device is traveling and its local timezone cannot be determined, it will default to its native timezone.
Note: Shorter messages generally send faster.
What are the rules and requirements around calling customers?
Voice Drops must comply with all applicable regulations, including:
FCC requirements
TCPA regulations
Do Not Call Registry rules
When will a customer receive the product or discount code mentioned in the recording?
The discount or product is delivered immediately when the voicemail is received.
What happens when a customer calls the number back?
In the current version, return calls are denied.
What happens if a customer opts out of Voice Drop?
The customer will be opted out of Voice Drop only.
They will remain opted in to any other channels they previously consented to, including SMS.
How do customers opt in to Voice Drop?
Customers can opt in by texting “VOICE” to your Text-to-Join number, which can be found in AIQ Texting Settings.
How do customers opt out of Voice Drop?
Customers can opt out by pressing 9 on their dial pad during the call.
How long should my Voice Drop be?
Maximum: 2 minutes
Recommended: ~1 minute
Messages under 1 minute are often considered spammy by carriers and may incur higher fees. To avoid this, messages shorter than 1 minute are automatically repeated and closed out with the required opt-out message, targeting a total duration of ~59 seconds.
What are the maximum file upload requirements?
Maximum file size: 5 MB
Maximum length: 2 minutes
Supported formats include MP3 and WAV.
How am I charged for Voice Drops?
You are charged per minute (1-minute minimum).
A mandatory 7-second TCPA-compliant repeat/opt-out message is automatically appended to every Voice Drop, which counts toward total duration.
Will my Voice Drop be marked as spam on caller ID?
It is not common, but it can happen if a phone number has already been flagged by carriers.
There is currently no technology to reliably detect or prevent this in advance.
What deliverability should I expect for Voice Drops?
A ~90% delivery rate is extremely common.
Deliverability depends on:
Active phone numbers
DNC compliance
Network availability
The most common failure reason is temporary network unavailability.
Are macros available in Voice Drops?
Macros are supported only for AI-generated voice drops, excluding macros that populate URLs.
Macros are not supported for uploaded or browser-recorded audio files.
How many phone numbers do I get, and can I customize them?
You receive:
1 number per store
1 number per AIQ account
1 additional number for customers without a favorite store
You cannot choose specific phone numbers, but area code requests can be submitted via Support.
How long does it take for my brand name to appear on caller ID?
Caller ID propagation is controlled by carriers and typically takes 1–3 months after the number is provisioned.
