Configure Tier Audiences
Go to Audiences and create a new audience, then select Create a Loyalty Tier under Audience Requirements.
Audience name: The tier name members see in the app (for example, "Gold").
Badge: Optional tier image. To see how audience badges work, check out Creating New Audiences.
All customers where: The spend trait, comparison and amount that qualify a member for this tier (for example, Total Spent · more than · 500).
Between days / Between dates: The spend window. Between days is rolling (for example, 0 to 90 days ago); Between dates uses a fixed start and end date.
Points Modifiers: Optional. To see how points modifiers work, check out Automatic Points Modifiers.
+ Add tier: To add additional tiers, select + Add Tier in the top right corner. Clicking this saves the current tier and opens the next one with the same spend trait and spend window. Use the arrows next to Tier X of Y to move between tiers.
⚠️ Warning: Every tier must use the same spend trait and the same spend window. Each tier's spend amount must be higher than the previous tier's, and no two tiers can share an amount. A tier that breaks these rules will not save.
How Tier Audiences Work
Spend Traits
When Create a Loyalty Tier is selected, all other traits are hidden.
Trait | What it counts |
Total Spent | All purchase spend on the customer's profile. Each sale is rounded based on your Round Points to Nearest Whole Number setting in Settings > Loyalty |
Total Spent While Loyal | Spend made while the customer was an enrolled loyalty member. Each sale is rounded based on your Round Points to Nearest Whole Number setting in Settings > Loyalty |
Total Spent Since Signup | Spend made since the customer signed up. Each sale is rounded based on your Round Points to Nearest Whole Number setting in Settings > Loyalty |
Spend Window
Setting | Options |
Between days | A rolling window (for example, 0 to 90 days ago) |
Between dates | A fixed start and end date |
To see how comparisons like more than and in range work, check out Traits Overview.
Only spend inside the spend window counts toward a tier. For example, $50 spent a year ago on a 90-day tier counts as $0.
Tier Rules
Rule | Example |
One audience per tier | Silver, Gold and Platinum are three audiences |
Same spend trait on every tier | All tiers use Total Spent Since Signup |
Same spend window on every tier | All tiers use 0 to 90 days ago |
Each tier's amount is higher than the previous tier | $250, $500, $1,000 |
No duplicate amounts | Two tiers cannot both be $500 |
Points Modifiers
Each tier can have its own points modifier (for example, Tier 2 = 1.5x, Tier 3 = 2x). To see how points modifiers work, check out Automatic Points Modifiers.
Mobile App
What Shows in the App
The following appear in the mobile app:
The member's current tier name and badge on the home screen
A progress bar toward the next tier, based on spend inside the spend window
A completed state when the member reaches the top tier
A Learn more link, if a Loyalty Info URL is set
The following do not appear or happen:
Points, visits or lifetime spend as tier progress
Notifications, Flows or rewards when a member reaches a tier
Audiences that are not flagged as a loyalty tier
ℹ️ Note: Tiers do not appear in the mobile app until Show loyalty tier on the home screen is turned on under Settings > Mobile App > App Features > Features.
Mobile App Settings
To show tiers in the app, go to Settings > Mobile App > App Features, select the Features tab, and turn on Show loyalty tier on the home screen under Points & Discounts. Click Save. If this toggle is off, members will not see their tier or progress, even when tier audiences are active.
When the toggle is on, the Loyalty Info URL field appears. Optionally enter a full link, including https://, to your loyalty program page. Members open it from the Learn more link in the app's tier section.
To see the other app feature settings, check out App Features Settings.
More Than One Location
Mobile App settings are set per location. Choose a location under Currently Editing, or turn on Apply changes to all locations to turn on the tier section everywhere at once.
Removing a Tier
To turn a tier back into a standard audience, click the tier/star icon next to + Add tier ("Click to disable tiering. Save to apply.") and click Save. To remove a tier entirely, select Archive from the … menu. Members lose that tier's badge and points modifier when they leave the audience.
How Soon a Change Shows Up
To see how and when audiences update, check out Creating New Audiences.
