Background
If you're just getting started with building your loyalty program and need some tips, visit our blog about How to Build a Loyalty Program or check out AIQ Academy for detailed training and step-by-step guides!
⚠️ Warning: Loyalty Settings changes can impact your entire account unexpectedly if not fully informed on each aspect of your changes. Due to this, many settings will trigger a double confirmation to ensure you want to make changes. In addition, some settings are greyed out in the platform for end users and require you to reach out to your Account Manager, Customer Success Manager, or AIQ Support through our Live Chat Widget to complete desired changes.

General Accrual
Set your global points accrual settings.
Enable loyalty points: This enables loyalty customers to start accruing points. When disabled, loyalty customers will no longer be able to accrue points and all points reset to zero.
Customers can earn points starting on date: You can override this setting per data source integration, however, this is your default start time. If none is set, we will assume all transactions are valid since beginning of time.
🚨 Important: Any changes to points accrual dates for an existing loyalty program will affect the entirety of your customer base's loyalty balances.
Points earned per $100 spent: How many points should loyalty customers receive per $100 they spend?
Points earned per order: How many points (if any) should loyalty customers receive per order/in-store visit?
Max visits per day: How many times per day can a customer receive points from an order/in-store visit?
Enable accruing tax dollars: When enabled, tax dollars will contribute to points accrual. When disabled, a date field will populate to exclude tax dollars from contributing to points accrual after a certain date. Note: This does NOT remove points retroactively.
Round points: Round points accrued from sales up, down, or to the nearest whole number. Disabled will result in exact/fractional points.
Collectible Codes
In addition to the traditional loyalty programs, AIQ offers the option to set up a subscription-based loyalty program. See Subscription-Based Loyalty Program for more.
Points Expiration
⚠️ Warning: FIFO Points Expiration Logic is in BETA testing and is not yet available for all accounts.
Select which style of loyalty points expiration logic to use.
First In, First Out (FIFO) Expiration Logic: Points accrued from transactions will expire in the order they were received.
Modern Points Expiration Logic: Earned points will expire if no purchase has been made within the number of days set in the 'Days Until Points Expire' field.
Event Types: If a points event type is enabled, points earned from that event type will expire on a FIFO basis. If disabled, those points will never expire.
Sales: Points earned through purchases. Only applicable if using Points earned per $100 spent.
Boosts: Points gifted via campaign or audience boost.
Adjustments: Points adjusted on persona merge or loyalty settings changes.
Legacy: Points awarded through CSV upload. Not the same as Rollover Points.
Multiplier: Points earned through multiplier set at the audience level.
Rollover: Pre-FIFO loyalty points carried over when FIFO is turned on.
Referral: Points earned when referred friends purchase.
Visit: Points earned through purchases. Only applicable if using Points Earned per order.
Days Until Points Expire: The number of days required to pass before loyalty points will expire. Applies to both FIFO and Modern expiration logic.
Points Expiration Start Date: Defines when points begin to expire in your loyalty program. If not set, expiration defaults to applying to all loyalty sales after your Loyalty Accrual Start Date.
Rollover Points: When enabled, existing loyalty points will roll over into FIFO logic instead of all customers starting at 0 points. Disable if you want your program to start fresh at 0 points when enabling FIFO.
Accrual by Customer Type
REC: Accessory Accrual Only: When enabled, after the selected date, points will only accrue for accessory sales for recreational customers. Useful in regions where cannabis product discounts for recreational customers are restricted. Medical customers are not impacted.
REC: Show All Points: When enabled, recreational customers will see loyalty points in their wallet. Disable to hide points (points still accrue, but are hidden). Useful in jurisdictions where showing points for recreational cannabis customers is restricted.
MED: Show All Points: When enabled, medical customers will see loyalty points in their wallet. Functions the same as REC: Show All Points but applies to medical customers.
Text: Show Points Regardless of Opt-in Status: When enabled, customers opted in or out of text will have their points shown. When disabled, customers opted out will have their points hidden (but still accruing).
Email: Show Points Regardless of Opt-in Status: Same as above but for email opt-in status.
Push: Show Points Regardless of Opt-in Status: Same as above but for push notification opt-in status.
Accrual by Opt-In Status
Delay enforcement until after a set time: Delays enforcing the other settings in this section until after a specific date/time. When enforcing settings, points are depleted and accrual stops for customers who don't meet requirements.
Require all selected channels: When enabled, customers must be opted into all selected channels to accrue points. When disabled, they must opt into at least one.
Zero points balance if opted out: When enabled, if a customer opts out of required messaging channel(s), their points balance will zero out.
ℹ️ Note: This setting is locked as it can severely impact points balances and is difficult to reverse. If you would like to make changes, reach out to your CSM or contact AIQ Support through our Live Chat Widget.
Text/Email/Native push/Browser push/Voice: Require persona to be opted in to stay loyal: When enabled, customers not opted in to that channel will have their points depleted to zero and will not be able to accrue points.
Persona Points Blocklist
The blocklist allows you to create Points Freeze Windows: a period of time that restricts points accrual for a specific customer.
Referral Points
Set accrual rules based on if a referred customer has signed up or signed up and opted into SMS messaging. For more information on AIQ's refer-a-friend program, see our Refer A Friend Campaigns guide.
Staff App Overrides
Allow staff to modify customer points: When enabled, staff can modify points for customers. All points modifications are logged by the email of the staff who performed the action.
Allow staff to access wallets: When enabled, staff can view and redeem discounts on behalf of the customer. Generally used when a customer comes in without their phone and wishes to redeem a discount.
Allow staff to see waiting room queue: When enabled, staff can see the waiting room queue and use enhanced signup and customer tagging. Works with integrations that support waiting rooms/queues. See Integration Grid for compatibility.
Advanced
Personas Without PII Aren't Counted as Loyal: When enabled, anonymous loyalty members are not allowed. A persona must have PII (name, email, or phone number) to be considered a loyalty member. Applies retroactively.
Relative Discount Expiration: When enabled, discounts will expire relative to when they are earned instead of when the discount is accessed.
Reset Points To Zero Upon Any Redemption: When enabled, a customer's point balance will zero out after redeeming a discount.
ℹ️ Note: This setting is locked as it can severely impact points balances. Contact your CSM or AIQ Support through our Live Chat Widget to make changes.
Show PIN Code in Wallets: When enabled, a PIN code is shown in customer wallets as an alternative option to unlock points. This code resets every 10 seconds.
Enable Customer Redemption PIN Codes: When enabled, a PIN code is sent via text/email to customers for them to unlock rewards and prove ownership. When disabled, rely on staff to input the master PIN code to unlock wallets.
Create Master PIN Code For Your Organization: When enabled, set a master PIN code that can be used to bypass integrations that require a pin. Used in-store to verify/open wallets.
Send PINs To Email If Known: When enabled, customers receive wallet links, PIN codes, and double opt-in messages via both email and text. When disabled, only via text/SMS.
Name/DOB Merging: When enabled, AIQ automatically merges personas if both Name and Date of Birth (DOB) fields match. Prevents duplicate personas when PII like phone or email is missing.
ℹ️ Note: Disabling Name/DOB Merging is locked as it can severely impact persona profiles and points balances. Contact your CSM or AIQ Support to make changes.
Block Adjustments: Automated processes that stabilize points in edge cases (e.g., merges or deleted uploads). If disabled, all adjustments must be handled manually.
ℹ️ Note: Block Adjustments is locked as it can severely impact points balances. Contact your CSM or AIQ Support to make changes.
Loyalty Points Reset (Date): Define a reset date. Any events that occurred before this date will not contribute to a persona's points balance. Helpful for relaunching loyalty programs or correcting legacy data.
