Digital Spend Cards are branded reloadable payment cards in the Loyalty Wallet that customers can use to pay in-store while still earning points. They enable faster checkout, encourage repeat visits, and deepen engagement through seamless in-app payments.

Prerequisites

Before getting started, ensure you have:

Required Permissions:

Enabling Digit Spend Cards requires Owner permissions.

Other Requirements:

  • AIQ Mobile App enabled

  • A POS system compatible with Birchmount integration

  • A Birchmount account (or readiness to enroll)


Birchmount Cards Integration

Birchmount Cards enable gift card and reloadable payment card functionality within your Mobile App by connecting directly to your POS system.

Your POS treats scanned Birchmount barcodes like standard gift cards, making setup simple and fully compatible.

💡 Good to Know:
There is no setup charge, and the integration works seamlessly with barcode scanning at checkout.


How to Enable Birchmount Cards


Step 1: Confirm POS Setup with Birchmount

Existing Birchmount Clients

If your POS is already connected to Birchmount, skip to Step 3.

New Clients

If you are not yet using Birchmount, you can:

  • Sign up for Birchmount to enable reloadable payment cards

  • Request a demo of the Birchmount platform


Step 2: Obtain Your Birchmount App ID

Email Birchmount support to receive your Birchmount App ID:

⚠️ Note:
This is not your AIQ App ID. Birchmount provides a separate identifier.


Step 3: Add Your Birchmount App ID in AIQ

  1. Navigate to:
    App Settings → Features Tab → Birchmount Integration

  2. Enter your Birchmount App ID

  3. Save your settings

Once complete, customers can redeem digital payments using barcodes directly within your POS 🚀


Scan to Pay

Scan-to-Pay allows customers to load funds onto a digital spend card and use it at checkout.


How Customers Use Scan to Pay

  1. Open the Mobile App hamburger menu

  2. Select Scan to Pay

  3. Create a digital card

  4. Enter the amount to load

  5. Agree to terms and conditions

  6. Select a checkout method:

Payment Methods by Region

  • United States: Spence + Aeropay

  • Canada: Spence + Stripe

  1. Connect a bank account to the selected payment method


Digital Card Display

After setup, customers will see a digital card that includes:

  • Barcode

  • PIN number

  • Current balance

When customers tap Scan to Pay in the future, the same card will appear automatically.

If the balance is depleted, customers can reload funds using the link at the bottom of the card.


Redeeming In-Store

At checkout:

  • Customer opens Scan-to-Pay

  • Staff scans the barcode or QR code

  • The POS processes it like a gift card payment
