Alias Emails for Team Members

Use alias emails ([email protected]) to create additional AIQ logins for team members sharing a primary email, or when adding a user across multiple agencies.

Background

An alias email address allows you to create additional email identifiers linked to your primary email account. Alias emails include your primary email with a "+" sign followed by a specific identifier.

For example, if the primary email is [email protected], aliases could be [email protected], [email protected], etc.

How Does an Alias Email Function in AIQ?

Alias email addresses serve two main functions within AIQ:

  1. Login Capabilities: Alias emails can be used as credentials when setting up access for team members. For example, you can register a team member with an alias login like [email protected], ensuring the underlying primary email ([email protected]) still handles all communications.

  2. Email Routing: All email communications, including account invitations and system notifications, continue to route to the primary email address, regardless of the alias.

AIQ's backend system automatically recognizes the alias structure and ensures all communications are directed correctly.

FAQs

Why do I get an "Unable to add team member" error when adding a team member to a new agency, even though they aren't part of that agency?

This occurs because the team member you are trying to add already has an AIQ account associated with their email under a different agency. In this case, you need to use an alias for their email to create an account like jane.green+1@aiq.com.
