Managing Discounts and Loyalty Points Between Alpine IQ and Dutchie POS

Information to assist in managing discounts setup and redemption of Loyalty Points in Dutchie POS

This article explains how to set up, sync, and troubleshoot discounts and loyalty points between Alpine IQ (AIQ) and Dutchie POS. By correctly configuring both systems, businesses can ensure discounts and rewards are applied seamlessly, supporting smoother shopper transactions and effective loyalty programs.

Overview of Integration

  • Alpine IQ (AIQ) manages the creation of discounts and loyalty-based rewards.

  • Dutchie POS applies these discounts at the point of sale.

  • A proper one-to-one setup is required: every discount or reward created in AIQ must be mirrored in Dutchie POS to function correctly.

  • Loyalty points cannot be applied directly at the Dutchie register. Instead, points must first be redeemed in AIQ, which generates a discount or reward that is then reflected in Dutchie POS.

⚠️ One-to-One Mapping — Either/Or Logic Must Be Built Inside a Single Dutchie Discount

One AIQ discount maps to exactly one Dutchie Discount ID. You cannot map a single AIQ discount to two separate Dutchie discounts.

If you need either/or discount logic (e.g., a shopper chooses between two qualifying products and the discount should remove correctly for whichever they pick), build that logic inside a single Dutchie discount by adding multiple qualifying product conditions to it. Then link one AIQ discount to that one Dutchie ID.

If the merchant already has two separate Dutchie discounts set up for this scenario, they must either consolidate them into one Dutchie discount or create two separate AIQ discounts — one mapped to each Dutchie Discount ID.

Setting Up and Syncing Discounts

Follow these steps to create and sync discounts across AIQ and Dutchie POS:

1. Create the Discount in AIQ

  1. Navigate to the Discounts page in AIQ.

  2. Configure the discount according to your marketing objectives.

2. Copy the Discount ID

  • Locate the Discount ID in the far-left column of the AIQ Discounts page.

3. Create the Matching Discount in Dutchie POS

  1. In the Dutchie POS dashboard, go to Marketing > Discounts.

  2. Create a new discount with the same configuration as in AIQ.

  3. Use these specific settings:

4. Adjust Redemption Settings in AIQ

  • Leave Redemption setting in AIQ unchecked (functions in place of N/A similar to Legacy setting).

  • Dutchie POS does not rely on AIQ's "trigger a platform reward" setting.

5. Repeat as Needed

  • Repeat these steps for each additional discount.

Managing Loyalty Points

  1. Use AIQ to create the desired points-based rewards.

  2. Create the matching discount in Dutchie POS.

  3. Shoppers must redeem loyalty points in AIQ to generate the discount, which is then synced with Dutchie POS.

Note: Redemption processes may vary between POS systems. Consult your POS provider's documentation for system-specific details.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Discounts Appear but Cannot Be Redeemed

  • Confirm the discount exists in both AIQ and Dutchie POS with identical configurations.

  • Verify the Alpine IQ Discount ID matches in both systems.

  • Edit the Dutchie POS discount if discrepancies are found.

Loyalty Points Not Applying at Checkout

  • Dutchie POS Loyalty Tags: Ensure that loyalty tags visibility in Dutchie POS is confirmed. If not, verify the shopper's profile information in AIQ as it merges profiles automatically, ensuring point redemption availability.

Discounts Not Applying for Shoppers

  • Confirm Dutchie POS settings match AIQ reward definitions.

  • Check whether purchase restrictions or exclusions (e.g., product categories, order limits) are preventing application.

Synchronization Issues

  • Verify account and points synchronization between AIQ and Dutchie POS.

  • If synchronization is correct but issues persist, review backend restrictions in Dutchie POS.

  • Escalate to Dutchie Support if problems continue with discounts that are setup in AIQ but erroring when being applied in POS.

  • Missing Loyalty Tags: If a shopper enrolled through another platform lacks a visible loyalty tag in Dutchie POS, confirm profile information matches in AIQ to ensure points are redeemable.
