Prerequisites

Before getting started, ensure you have:

  • Completed your SEO Menu setup, including the reverse proxy step

  • Submitted your sitemap to Google

1. SEO Menu Setup

First, ensure that your AIQ Ecommerce menu is setup, including the reverse proxy step, submitting your sitemap, and more.

Setup your, see SEO Menu Setup

Submit your sitemap to Google, see SEO Menu Sitemaps

2. Measurement

Next, you'll want to set up analytics on your menu so you can measure results.

Basic measurement:

Google Analytics: This is the most popular way to get analytics on your menu.

Google Tag Manager: GTM also enables many other front end analytic options, you can see a list of supported tags in this doc.

Advanced measurement:

There are many more items you can tweak on your website and in your menu content. There are several tools you can use to help you optimize and check these fields, including: Google Rich Results Test, Google Search Console, SEMRush, and more.

3. Analyze!

Now that you've gotten through sections 1 and 2, you'll start to see traffic on your menu via your analytics tool.

The types of things you'll want to measure:

  • Overall Traffic

  • Organic Search traffic

  • Ranking Keywords

  • Impressions

  • Clickthrough Rate

  • Total Clicks

  • Time on Site

  • Specific Keyword rankings (products, categories, etc. that you carry)

If you previously had analytics on your website before launching the SEO menu and you have historical data to compare to, you can measure that change. If not, you can measure the change over time.

Why is my content NOT ranking?

SEO takes time.

Search engines use bots to crawl websites and index their content. This process isn't instant; it can take days or weeks for search engines to fully index new or updated pages.

Many businesses are also trying to rank for the same keywords that may be on your website and menu, and it takes time to outperform competitors who may have been optimizing their sites for longer.

SEO is driven by your marketing efforts.

Backlinks

Domain authority is a measure of a website’s credibility and trustworthiness in the eyes of search engines. Building authority involves earning high-quality backlinks from reputable websites, which is a gradual process.

The easiest way to do this is through local news reporting about your business, but there are many other strategies that could work depending on your business and location. If this is something you need help with, you could hire a PR Agency.

Campaigns

It is not enough to just simply have an online menu, you must also drive traffic to it. Clicks drive more clicks; if only 5% of your orders are online, you can't expect your rankings to increase! This is where marketing and Campaigns come in. AIQ has the tools to help!
