Demography & Geography

The Demographics & Geography tab shows who your customers are and where they transact. Analyze age, gender, and location trends to refine marketing and merchandising strategies.

Prerequisites

Before getting started, ensure you have:

Required Permissions:

Data Analytics can be accessed by users with the following permissions:

  • Analyst

  • Marketing

  • Marketing + Analyst

  • Operator

  • Owner

Other Requirements

  • Retail Analytics Pro is required to access Demography & Geography


How to Access Demography & Geography

  1. Navigate to Analytics > My Analytics > Demography and Geography in your AIQ Dashboard.

  2. Select your desired date range.

  3. (Optional) Filter by audience.


Demographics

Age

The Age Breakdown section shows customer segments by age group, including:

  • Average Order Value (AoV)

  • Top-selling products by age range

  • Total members in each age group

  • % of total members

  • Loyal customers

  • Active customers

  • Reward participants

This data helps you understand:

  • Which age groups generate the most revenue

  • Which products resonate with specific age ranges

  • Loyalty engagement by age segment


Category Breakdown by Age

The Category Breakdown by Age section shows purchasing behavior by category and age group.

You can:

  • View percentage contribution of each product category per age range

  • Identify which categories over-perform with certain demographics

Data is sourced directly from your sales information (POS or Ecommerce platform).


Gender

The Gender section mirrors the Age breakdown and includes:

  • Average Order Value (AoV)

  • Category performance by gender

  • Customer counts and percentages

  • Loyalty participation metrics

Use this to:

  • Tailor promotions by gender

  • Optimize product assortment

  • Adjust marketing messaging


Geography

The Geography section displays a heatmap of customer transaction locations.

This allows you to:

  • Identify high-density customer areas

  • Measure store trade areas

  • Optimize localized marketing campaigns


How to Enable Geocoding (Required for Geography Data)

  1. Navigate to Settings > Integrations

  2. Locate Geocoding

  3. Click Review Pricing

  4. Click Connect

  5. Confirm activation

Once enabled, the system will begin mapping transaction data geographically.

โš ๏ธ Note: Geographic insights will only populate after sufficient transaction data is collected post-activation.
