Order Insights

Order Insights analyzes transactional data from your POS and Ecommerce integrations to reveal revenue trends, purchasing behavior, and product performance.

Prerequisites

Before getting started, ensure you have:

Required Permissions:

Data Analytics can be accessed by users with the following permissions:

  • Analyst

  • Marketing

  • Marketing + Analyst

  • Operator

  • Owner


Run an Order Insights Analysis

  1. Navigate to Insights > Order Insights in your AIQ Dashboard.

  2. Select your desired Time Period.

  3. Select the Audience(s) you want to analyze.

  4. Click Run Analysis.

AIQ will generate reporting data based on your selected filters.


Order Stats

This section provides high-level metrics for the selected time period and audience(s).

Metrics include:

  • Revenue – Total revenue generated

  • Average Checkout Value (AOV) – Average revenue per transaction

  • Average Cart Items – Average number of items per order

  • Days til Customer Returns – Average time between customer purchases

  • Top Performing – Highlights top-performing segments based on selected filters

Use this section for a quick performance snapshot.


Order Details

Toggle between the following breakdown views:

  • Categories

  • Brands

  • Products

  • Payments

You can also toggle between:

  • Revenue (average revenue)

  • Orders (average number of orders)

View Data in Table Format

  • Click Show Table to display results in table format.

  • Click the (+) button within the table to expand and view more detailed information about a selected data point.

Use this section to identify top-performing products, brands, or payment methods.


Breakdown by Time

Analyze ordering trends based on time-based performance.

Toggle between:

  • Month

  • Day

  • Hour

You can also toggle between:

  • Revenue (average revenue)

  • Orders (average number of orders)

Available time-based views:

  • Hour of the Day

  • Day of the Week

  • Month of the Year

Click Show Table to display results in table format.

By default, data is sorted Highest → Lowest.
To reorder chronologically, select the Order by date checkbox.

Use this section to identify peak sales periods and optimize staffing, promotions, or inventory planning.


Revenue by Day

This view displays a heat-map style grid showing total Orders or Revenue by day.

Use this visualization to:

  • Identify performance trends

  • Spot high-traffic periods

  • Detect underperforming days

  • Allocate resources more effectively

Color indicators:

  • Green = Above average

  • Blue = Average

  • Purple = Below average

  • Pink = Zero revenue or orders

This view is ideal for a high-level performance snapshot across time.


Common Actions

Identify Your Busiest Sales Periods

  1. Navigate to Breakdown by Time.

  2. Toggle to Hour of the Day or Day of the Week.

  3. Compare Revenue vs Orders to determine volume vs value trends.

Identify Top-Selling Products

  1. Navigate to Order Details.

  2. Toggle to Products.

  3. Switch between Revenue and Orders to compare performance metrics.

  4. Click Show Table for deeper analysis.


Troubleshooting

Issue: No data appears after running analysis.
Solution:

  • Confirm your POS or ecommerce integration is connected and syncing properly. Verify the selected date range contains transactional data.

Issue: Metrics seem lower than expected.
Solution:

  • Confirm the correct Audience(s) and Time Period are selected before running analysis.

Issue: Revenue and Orders appear inconsistent.
Solution:

  • Ensure you are toggling between Revenue and Orders intentionally, as these display different performance metrics.

Issue: Revenue totals in AIQ do not match the POS system.
Solution/Steps to Resolve:

  • Confirm the same date range is selected in both systems.

  • Ensure the same location(s) or store(s) are included.

  • Verify whether AIQ is filtering by a specific Audience while the POS is showing all transactions.
